Special Educational Needs
Objectives
Our Special Educational Needs Policy is in keeping with the general aims of ABC Family Nursery Ltd and our policy on equality of opportunity. The staff at ABC Family Nursery will ensure that all children enjoy a broad range of experiences that meet individual needs.
SEN Staff at ABC Family Nursery
Penny has experience in working with special needs including liaison with outside organisation’s and works closely with children, parents and staff.
Special Facilities
There is wheelchair access throughout the building, (including the upper floor).
We also a soft play area and sensory area for all children at ABC Family Nursery, which may benefit particular SEN.
Admission Arrangements
ABC Family Nursery caters for children of all abilities, and the presence or absence of a Special Need is not a factor in the allocation of spaces to children.
Inclusion:
Children with Special Educational Needs are fully included into the life and activities of ABC Family Nursery.
The effectiveness of each child's education in ABC Family Nursery is measured by achievements on their individual targets. Our key objectives will be reviewed every six months and any relevant alterations made.
Links with Support Services and Other Agencies:
ABC Family Nursery has developed links with several support agencies/other agencies these include:
1. Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership
2. Social Services
3. Sure Start
4. Community Nursery Nurse
5. Children's Disability Team
6. Hastings NHS
7. Kites
8. Pre-school Learning Alliance
Links with Other Settings
Other agencies involved with a child with Special Educational Needs are invited into the Nursery to observe children.
If a child attends another nursery as well as ABC close links are developed to ensure consistency of care provide for the child and parents.
All written records are passed onto the receiving setting when a child moves from ABC Family Nursery.
ABC Family Nursery will visit the new setting with the child, where appropriate.
